Happy Days - Technique Tuesday

Hey peeps.
Today, I am sharing a layout that is 'loosely' based a a layout over at Paper Issues. It's for the Scraplift challenge.  I did start my layout with the intent of coping the original, but it veered off track pretty quickly.  I used My Mind's Eye that I grabbed from the Paper Issues store.

The real cool part of this layout, is the stamps I used that pair perfectly with this collection.  It is from Technique Tuesday.  Its called Fresh Peonies Stamp Set and I also used the Metal Dies that coordinate.  I ask used the Build a Birdhouse Crafting Dies that I tucked in small houses throughout the layout.
You should go take a look at what is happening over at Technique Tuesday.  They have some really fun things to play with.

Here is Jen McMurtrey's original layout.

Happy - Technique Tuesday

If you are stamp lover, then this is the perfect stamp set for you.
Love is in the Air Stamp Set with the Sending Love Crafting Dies from Technique Tuesday!
Perfect for Valentines Day!  Yes, that lovely holiday is fast approaching and we all need to get busy!
I actually just bought red lights to put outside to match my clear lights so it looks less Christmasy.  My husband disagrees.  Oh well, maybe he won't get a V-day card!  lol.

Who says this Love is in the Air Stamp Set needs to be used on a card though!
Today, I used it on a 12x12 layout.

I heat embossed the balloon on several different patterned papers, fussy cut around them, added the punched heart to the center and scattered them around my page!

The LOVE die is from the set called Sending Love Crafting Die.

Moments with Friends - Paper Issues

My Silhouette scares me.  I get nervous and overthink things when I want to use it.
Instead of doing something crazy with the FREE cut file from the Paper Issues store, I kept it simple. I cut a patterned paper and embellished with enamels from Bella Blvd.

On the Paper Issues blog, a few members of the Design Team have used the cut file in some pretty talented ways.

I used Illustrated Faith She Blooms by Bella Blvd.  It is gorgeous all on its own!
Grab it from the PI store for
20% off with code Mary-Ann.

READ - anytime and anywhere!

During the school year, Roman had to read 15-20- minutes a day.  I used to have to set a timer to get him to stop so he could journal about what he read.  Or, so we could start doing math and have our nightly fight!!  I would often times find him in the silliest places.  Under the wierdest things.
This summer, if it is a book of his choice, he would read and read too.  With this layout, I thought I would highlight his favorite reading spots.

I found an awesome cut file over at The Cut Shoppe and started pulling papers from this months Studio Calico KOTM.  I added random enamels and some of my favorite flair from A Flair for Buttons

I took the negative of this heart and covered it with washi tape, backed it with foam and added back to the center of the heart.

Hardly any paper was used for this layout exempt the backgrounds, the cut sheet and a touch of the black and white stripped papers from the SC Kit.  It is mostly the embellishments that make this page.    See you soon.

eclectic Paperie and Add a Little Dazzle Blog Hop (Day2)

Welcome to Day 2 of the eclectic Paperie & Add a Little Dazzle Blog Hop!
We have more exciting projects to share with you as we continue with our Blog Hop.

My creation...

You can see that I have created a simple layout using the Outrageously Orange Metal Sheet from
Add a Little Dazzle.  It matched perfectly with my "Date Night" paper by Chickaniddy Crafts.  Working with metal is new to me, so cutting it with a die cutting machine was my obvious choice.  I dug out my Big Shot and my favorite dies to include Decorative Strip Spring Greenery.
I layered, added a few of my loose embellishments, machine sewed and added a few splashes of Dylusions Ink Sprays.
If playing with something new frightens you, try small steps.  Like I just did.  I loved the brightness the metal brought to my page.  Hmmm, maybe next time I will try sanding a little bit.
