Blueberries Aren't Blue - Elle's Studio

Hey there!

Ever think to yourself, 'how can that possibly be?'  Well, my mom and I had a recent discussion after getting purple blueberry ice cream.  We both know that blueberries can be blue, but mostly they are purple.  So, we decided they shouldn't be called blueberries.  Maybe purple berries!  Who came up with the work pajamas?  Or scrumptious?  I could go on.  It would take all day and with all the amazing goodies in the April Kit and add-ons, we don't have time for that, do we?!

I knew I wanted to create a play on colors with the blue and purple.  So I made sure to layer both colors every time I used them.  Behind the Large Jane Alphas, around the entire layout as a base and under the Mom Heart Cut file.

About the Mom Heart cut file... I only wanted to use the heart part of the file. So, I released the compound path and only used the outer part of the heart.  Releasing it from the text on the inside.  I cut the heart 3 times, decreasing in size by 1/4 of an inch each time.

Along with the blue and purple, I added the beautiful raspberry color that is throughout the April kit.  The Butterfly and Flowers Puffy Stickers had the cutest florals so I had to add them to the date clump at the bottom of my page.  Adding this, lead me to adding the 3x4 floral tag from the April Kit.

I trimmed down the floral tag and tucked it in behind my photo.  Then, I layered with the Days of the Week Phrase sentiments for a little more detail for my story.  Not only does my title depict a story, but I added journaling to the top left corner of the layout to remember the moment for years to come.

Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail - Elle's Studio

Morning Elle's friends!

I am super excited to share my Elle's Studio layout with you today!  I had so much fun creating this multi-patterned title.  I was at a crop with several other friends who were seriously mad at me!  I kept singing my title, which then got stuck in their heads for the entire day!  I thought it was hilarious!  But seriously, look how fun it is.  Each word, using a different patterned paper from the Spring 6x6 paper pack.  Paired with the larger Chocolate Acrylic boy Bunny, was a bonus for the bottom of my spread!  All from Elle's Studio!

Noteworthy 2, Puffy Alpha Stickers in Teal, Steel Craft Die, Large Jane Alpha Stamps, Springtime 6x6 paper pad, Large Jane # Stamp and Steel Craft Die, Family Fun 6, Live Laugh Love Floral, Spring Puffy, Tiny Everyday Label Stickers

For under my photos, I cut strips of various 12x12 colorful papers that would match the color scheme I was trying to achieve for the layout.

I added the Tiny Everyday Label Stickers that matched my project.  The phrases just happened to be perfect!  I used foam for a little bit of added dimension.  Layering them over the photos helps bring your eye to that photo.

As much as I love ALL the acrylics in the March release, I really love how this 'guy' stands out against all the pastels and white that I used.  Directly under my title, was the perfect place for him to get cozy!

I know you have seen these amazing Large Jane Alpha Stamps and Dies.  But, have you really seen them?  There are 4 different patterns to stamp in.  Giving you 4 completely different looks.  I used the Large Jane Alphabet Stamp - Outline, helping the letters stand out over just cut patterned paper letters.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to hit the shop and check out these large alphas.  You are gonna love the different patterns. Don't forget to tag Elle's Studio when you use them.  We definitely want to see you getting your craft on too!

Creative Spaces Vol. 3 - holla!!!

Welcome to my humble blog.
This is where I share my recent scrapbooking creations, updates on my little family and more scrapbooking.  You have probably found your way here through Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine blog hop for the Creative Spaces Vol. 3 magazine or you are my loyal family!

This is big news for a small town girl from the Northeast.  I will be buying every copy in a 20 mile radius!  If your on my Christmas list, you know what you will be getting!

Paper Crafts team has suggested we share some of our scrapbooking space, behind the scenes photos of the "photo shoot" or maybe a tutorial.  I have decided to share some photos of my space.  Some have been posted here before but I am pretty sure most of you are happening upon my blog for the very first time, so all I share will be a surprise.

When you get to my "big spread" in the magazine, (pages 78, 79, 80 and 81), after my mugshot you will see photos of this enormous, over sized, back-breaking, 500 lb, custom made oak desk with hideous gold knobs (pg 80).  The magazine mentions that a "friend" made it for me.  I told Paper Crafts staff who really made it for me, but they thought it best to be generic and say "friend" instead of the truth, and suggested that I share the story with you myself.

Truth is, an inmate made it for me.  One of the long-term kind:o)  Yup, you read that right.  I had it made in the woodworking department at a correctional facility that I used to work at.  The inmate even signed underneath if you need proof!  Why you ask, I am not sure!  Maybe he thinks he will be released and become famous and I could turn this hefty monster over for folks to see his autograph.
It is loosely based on a desk I saw in a magazine.  It is amazing, if you don't have to move it and you can get passed the knobs.  It has custom pull outs, slide outs, drawers, 13x13 adjustable storage on both sides, storage space and two flat surface pullouts for additional work space.

I do gasp at the thought that the inmate may be released from his life sentence, leisurely strolls through his local craft store, picks up this magazine at the check out and happens upon "his" custom desk and the fact that we have called him a "friend!"

Here are a few of the behind the scene photos.  If I shared them all, you would notice a pattern..... a brown, sexy, beautiful beast on the floor in each shot.  I had to lock her in a bedroom so the poor photographer could work his magic.  I must say, I have seen the magazine and he has made my teeny tiny craft space look gigantic!

So this is a tiny glimpse into my space where I create.
You will see more details in the magazine.  I love the light gray cabinets I have as well.  They are from Martha Stewart's Home Decorators Collection from Home Depot.  I love love love the thin wide drawers that come with dividers if you want.  I like a clean space so having all of these cabinets with doors, for me, is essential.  Plus, my studio is inside the front door of my house so I NEED quick clean up.

So, sneak peek is over.  You gotta buy the mag to see the rest!
I will have to charge for any autographs:o)

I truly appreciate each and everyone of you that stops by.
 Hope to see you again.

Continue on to the blog hop here.....

Vroom and Let's Take a Trip - for eP and A Flair for Buttons

Today over at eclectic Paperie and A Flair for Buttons, and I am sharing two layouts created with this months eP Kit of the Month and my stash of flair.  It was so much fun sitting around with my gal pals last month creating in eP's studio.  My intent was to scrapbook a picture of a corn flake that my son found.  It looks just like the USA.  I never got to it, but there is still time.  I found other photos that just had to be used with this months product from Jillibean Soup.

Greatest Dad

I am starting with one of many Father's Day cards over at The Rubber Cafe.  For this card, I have used packaging to create a hidden pocket that will hold a super sweet picture of my son with his dad.  Head over to their blog for the breakdown and the shakedown:o)  Wow, you can tell it is getting late.
