Happy Birthday Michele!

My dear friend from Michele Parrish from Want 2 Scrap is having a special birthday today.  We are surprising her with a Birthday Party Blog Hop.  There are chances to win so be sure to make all the stops!  Go HERE for the information!    Michelle and I travel the scrapbooking conventions and I if I am lucky, we get to dine together.  She has been blessed with a kind heart and I feel blessed to know her.

Happy happy birthday Michele!  Love you girl!

I have created this 5x5 cards using a Canvas Corps base and FarmHouse Paper Company's 302 Collection.  It would not be complete without some Black Pearl Bling from Want 2 Scrap.

Please join in on the hop and wish Michele a big fat happy birthday!

Late to School

Hello Flair fans, here is a packed layout for you today over on the A Flair For Buttons blog.  I have had this paper line from My Mind's Eye (Kate & Co.) for quite some time.  When I took my boy to school late one day, I snapped some photos (of him ahead of me and refusing to hold my hand, insert sad face)  and realized that this paper and chipboard would be just perfect!  I added a bright yellow washi tape, MME enamels that matched, Studio Calico tags and Whisker Graphic twine.

See how far ahead he was:o(  And to think I thought he was going to live with me forever....

It still wasn't complete until I added my title.  Don't you just adore the glittery Thickers?  I couldn't help but use them.  This is called PAYBACK - you won't hold my hand in public, I am going to add glitter to your layouts and post to every blog I can!
On another note, I am not sure if you are aware of my hoarding issues, but I do have a problem.  You should see my Thicker collection (one of many, you should see my stockpile of flair).  It could probably go down in the Guiness Book of World Records.  I should call them!  Well, if you can believe it, I ran out of this really cool color blue.  So, what is a girl to do but add flair as the "o's."  Why not I say!  You can see two of the four flair used in this layout.

Three of the four flair.  If you look close in the person flair, you can see my neighbors house!

I like the effect that transparent washi tape creates over such detailed papers.

I hope you feel inspired to add flair to your next layout!  Thanks for looking.

Toothless

Time has gotten away from me during these hot summer weeks with two vacations, vacation bible school, baseball camp and a pool.  I felt as though I lost my mo-jo until I got some ink spray in my hands again! (hehehe) I wanted to keep my layout simple, clean and bright.
I am over at the Eclectic Paperie Blog today.....  I started with my picture placement, then built from there.  I added a small amount of detail using the circle template with gray ink and applicator, a circle punch and sprayed just enough of three different ink sprays.  I loved the white wash feel of the Authentique Be(you)tiful paper and the Fancy Pants Stencil Cards matched my color pallet perfectly.  I added a few Studio Calico tags, and wood veneer stars, vintage twine and some machine stitching.  Simple yet full of color.

I hope you find time in this hot weather to stop and create.

Treasure Box

I have been all over the place the last couple weeks.  Not much time for creating but I did have this one layout to share.  Roman decided to clean his treasure box, in my bathroom of course.  It contains, shells, feathers and rocks.  He tucks it under his bed for safe keeping.

Thanks for looking

Get Altered Challenge over at Eclectic Paperie

The Get Altered Challenge is held on the first Thursday of each month and each challenge is an opportunity for you to be inspired by one our eTeam's creations.  With this month being my turn, Mary-Ann,  I chose to force you mixed media peeps into "Bringing it" (mixed media) to a layout.  WARNING:  this getting dirty thing is kinda addictive and catchy.  This layout girl is still a die-hard scrapper but has started to walk on the wild side!

I started with a blank white 12x12 piece of cardstock.  Thicker the better as I can see from my end results!  I got out my Gesso for the second time ever!  Using the "Polka Dotty" and "mini Chevron Arrows" templates, I applied Gesso, grey mist, purple mist, and shimmery embossing powder.  My heat gun helped set these colors and mediums.  It did made my Gesso bubble a bit but I loved the look.

Usually I would stop here.  No, that is not true, I would not have started!!!  But now I have the bug!!!  I added some old washi tape and Idea-ology  numbers.  My numbers were to stark, soooooo, what is a girl to but spray some more!  This time, the white mist made droplets, another cool effect I had no idea I was capable of.

So, I kept going, adding layers of paper and embellishment all over the place.

See that gorgeous Petaloo butterfly?

I didn't want the pins that these butterflies were attached too, so I pulled them off!  I feel unstoppable.  I am even altering stick pins!  Oh dear, see those pearl drops?  They are made using a pearl pen.

I added more rub ons, brads, butterflies, and a few other random embellishments and ended up with a mixed media layout!

I hope that I have inspired you to try something different.  I am having so much fun!

The Get Altered Challenge is about exploring your creative journey, about stepping outside of your comfort zone, experimenting with new products, and creating altered and mixed media art.
We want to see your work and hear about your inspiration!  All of those who play along with our challenge will be entered into a prize drawing for a $15.00 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie store.
