Easter 09

Now I am only 4 years behind!!  Using the same Studio Calico Kit - Neverland, I was able to complete another Easter layout.  Ticking one more off my long list.  Same kit, completely different color, style and design.

I used the same mask but colored pencils and a blender pen instead of paint.  The camera is an American Craft, Amy Tangerine rub-on.  I punched circles, raised some with foam tape and then got out my trusty, dusty sewing machine to stitch.  It was a tad empty so I dug out another circle punch and created holes in my layout.  I backed them with the peachy paper, raised the white with foam and offset them just a bit.  The enamel dots just reinforced my already enforced circle theme.

For the vellum covered bunny, I covered a piece of cardstock with strips of paper that I used on my layout.  Cut a bunny with my Silhouette, tied orange twine around his neck, covered it with vellum and stitched the edges.  He is actually floating in behind there!

The peachy/orange thread added a little more detail to my layout. Thanks for looking.

Off to do 2010! Maybe;o)

Easter 08

I have always been a little behind with my scrapbooking.  I used to scrap chronologically then I would get stuck and not do anything for a bit. Within the last couple years I have done pages that I simply just wanted to do.  No order involved, just picked what inspired me or what went with my new papers!  So with Easter fast approaching and busy bunny planning, I came across some old Easter bunny photos.  I have decided to scrap the oldest first in this case.  So, it is dated back to Easter 2008.  Only 5 yrs. behind, not too bad!  I dug out my March Studio Calico Kit - Neverland, and this is what I did.  I used a mask, for the second time in my life!!  The blotting of the paint did not work quite the way I wanted it to so I outlined every opening with my white gel pen.  It helped the mask be a little more pronounced.  I cut out the "Love This" circle with the Silhouette,  but it was too big for what I intended so I used it as a stencil just above the photo on the right side of the layout and for the word "Love" to the left.  Another pocket peeks from behind the photo to house the wallet size of the same photo.  I just can't throw them away!  Because of the woodgrain paper, I brought in wood veneers from Studio Calico.  Surprise surprise!

Happy Easter!

You are Loved Mini Album

Good morning,  here is a little mini project honoring bright cheery colors!  My tulips have broken ground but there is still snow everywhere.  I needed these bright colors to get me out of my slump!  I was inspired by the trendy palette and gorgeous floral patterns from the Collectible collection of My Mind's Eye - Notable.  I mixed it with bright colored ribbon, twine, and a few pins.  Scotch foam tape  helped with stability and dimension.  I applied Tim Holtz distress ink to the edges of my papers. I also added a few Inkssentials tags to the album to create more pages for memories.  These products can all be purchased over at Eclectic Paperie!

Check out all this foam tape I used!

Here are a couple pictures of the inside.

Hope hope your neck of the woods is warmer than mine.  Thanks for looking!  I believe you will be able to purchase this mini in the e-kit section of the website very soon!

cause i feel like it

Hmmmm, seems like that is a common phrase that spews out of my sons mouth lately.  Is it the age?  Hormones?  Sassiness?  Like I have said before, he is just like his daddy.  Because it can't be me!  He just looks so handsome in these photos.  Don't ya think?  He wanted to dress up for school, cause he felt like i t!
Here is another layout create with the monthly club kit from Ink About It.  The line is Teresa Collins - Stationary Noted.  I used the papers, journaling card paper, die cut accessories, decorative buttons, chipboard, enamel dots and banner all from the same line.  I chose a stripped paper for the border, and make it a little chunkier than normal.  This red strip complimented the jacket.  I tucked a pocket behind the right photo to add my journaling.  I used my Cameo Silhouette again for the heart bubble and the arrows.  The black and white stripped paper is from October Afternoon.  The little journaling cards would be just perfect for Project Life but I layered with them.  I love the owl - makes the whole thing look "Smart!"

Genetics: Spectacle's layout

Roman is much like his daddy in so many ways.  However, he has "bad" eyes like his mama.  I blame this on my mama.  She can not see at all if you take her glasses away.  When I worked at the prison, I was casually approached by an inmate and I could not see who it was.  Thought to myself, this would be a good time to get my eyes checked.  Ya think?  I received glasses in high school but no-way was I wearing them.  It wasn't cool.  Just like hats and jackets - NEVER!!!  So, last year, we decided to get Romans eyes checked after multiple headaches.  (That's good parenting right there!)  Of course I had to document the entire experience and just scrapped it yesterday.  I used the "Front Row" kit from Studio Calico.  I also got me a Silhouette!  I gave it a small try with the arrows.  I am not "techy" so it is a challenge.  I wish someone came with the box to show you how to use it.

Thanks for stopping in.

Unusual behavior: Tea Gram layout

Since I have been confessing all my "NEVERS" lately, I didn't want to let you down so here is another!  I never ever immediately sit down and start creating with my kit from my local scrapbook store Ink About It.  Usually, I am rushing the day before the next meeting to create something.  But, I was blessed with the opportunity to sit around and chat with my scrappin buddy as we dug out our kits, the day after the meeting!  I should post something that she has created.  Knock on wood, we have not yet spilled our coffees of our stuff!  Here is what I worked on.  It is a photo of my mom and son, Christmas 2011.  The colors of the kit and the photos worked well together.   I may have told you before, that we, and many others, call my mom, Tea Grammy.  She drinks tea.  Lots of it.  When I got these flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons in the mail and showed Roman, he said, "Tea Grammy is going to love those!"  You must head over to the Etsy shop and see her tins for yourself.  She has some great ones for all different events.  I do have myself quite a collection.

Oh, another think that I don't do often is fussy cut.  But I did.  Yup!  I cut out this flower!

See that "Tea" flair?  See the enamel dots?  The only thing missing from this layout is wood veneer!

Leftovers for three days???

Ok, since it is not food, I have not broken my cardinal rule!  Its paper, chipboard and embellishments!!  Used again and again until it is gone.  Having a boy makes this collection perfect for my families adventures.  When I first started visualizing the concept for this layout, I could not get off of GOLD.  It was, after all, the "Golden Bullet!"  I had a piece of leftover gold glitter paper and Roman found gold thickers at Joann's soon after the race.  It took me days to attack this one.  But, with the aid of my "counselor" I decided to break a little bit away from original concept and brought out the woodgrain instead.  Perfect!  Add a little blue jean and yellow, stick with the gold features and add in some boy touches and we have ourselves a "Golden Bullet" layout.  What do ya think?  Boy with a touch of gold.  Look close to see the gold glitter paper, it is there I promise!

See it?

Mary-Ann

PS:  Again, these chipboard pieces, woodgrain paper (the other papers too) and "Nice Ride" and "Activity Schedule" tags are all from the All About a Boy collection I got over at Eclectic Paperie!

Leftovers

Never, do I ever, eat leftovers.  Well, maybe I will eat spaghetti, baked chicken changed into a different form,  but generally my rule is...... NO leftovers.  Period.  My husband does though:o)  Oh, I will eat a leftover salad but I don't think that counts.  Growing up (more so in high school)  we would see that same two piece of cauliflower until it was gone.  We did not have a dog to help with this situation.  It would have been well fed!

Anyway, my point is, not often do I mess around with left over things.  However, I could not resist using my leftovers from my recent post on Eclectic Paperie.  We had just gone bowling and the Echo Park, All About a Boy collection had just what I needed.  I grabbed out that bowling tag and chipboard then pieced together this layout.  I have always been an inker but lately with the color choices I have made, I am liking the clean crisp look.  Most of this paper comes from Studio Calico's Front Row kit from February.  I love love love that mustache clip.  My recent obsessions are enamel dots, wood veneer (these are from Freckled Fawn) and flair.  Can't help it.  I will use those leftovers!

Ta ta!

Indecision

Indecision is a common occurrence in our house.  My son has acquired this attribute from his father.  It takes them both FOREVER to make a decision.  I can not remember how long we stood in this aisle at Wal-Mart.  I may have blocked it from my memory.  I, on the other hand, do things on impulse.  The quicker the better.
I just love how this photo captures my son intently researching this Nerf gun.  The colors in the Echo Park papers worked perfectly to bring my rather dark, semi-blurry photo to life.

I decided that papers from both "Scoot" and "All About A Boy" from Echo Park would help liven up my photo and they both work together really well.  Then I decided to try using Prima's Donna Downey 12x12 Art Stencil.
CONFESSION:  This is my first attempt as using any type of Art Stencil or Mask.  I dug out my old colored ink pads (Tim Holtz distress stains would work perfectly!) and gave it a whirl!  I actually loved how it came out!  Of course, you can find all these products by clicking on the description or by heading over to Eclectic Paperie.

Once my attempt at masking was complete, I layered papers, stickers and chipboard.  At the end, I added some machine stitching, a Flair button and Studio Calico Wood Veneers for detail.

Thank you for looking.

PS:  I must confess that I did not work on this project alone:o)

Still snowing here:o)

It is snowing here still.  I like it.  I think.  Maybe I am tired of it.  I don't like heat so I am not ready for summer yet.  Oh wait, maybe I am so I can swim in our new pool.  Ugh, I am so confused!  It was warmer here last week and my tulips have started to break through the ground.  I think they are confused too!

Here is a layout I did with the Norland paper line from Farmhouse Paper Company.  Seems fitting to share it on such a cold day.

Italia Feb 2012

It has been a year since I was in Italy.  Wish I was still there.  Randy is in Austria right now which is right above it.  I know this because looked it up!  Don't snicker, bet you didn't know that either!  I recently finished my Smash book from the trip.  I am pretty impressed with the discipline that I had, journaling every night in the hotel room.  I remember taking notes throughout the day.  I am surprised at how much information I recorded.  I am grateful I did because I have probably retained 10%.  Well, actually 5%.  Of course I did not leave enough room on each day for photos so you have to turn to the back to see those.    Oh my, what I would do to go back, see all those beautiful Italian men, eat pasta and visit the Colosseum.  I will return there one day.
This type of scrapping reminds me of my scrapbooks from Jr high and high school.  I used Farmhouse Paper Companies Fair Skies line to create the cover.  I also carried that line throughout the inside and added various washi tapes, along with Studio Calico wood veneers.

Thanks for looking.

A Boy that loves Star Wars

While visiting the local library, I captured my son pretending to be Luke. I love this photo and had done nothing with it! I took it in June of 2011.  On a recent visit to an antique store, I collected some phrases and words from an old game. I used "A BOY" here. I colored my Pink Paislee hearts and machine stitched my arrows. I raised the circle arrow strip with foam tape, then added my title and then stitched. Wasn't sure if it would work but it did!    I just love the flair button, you can order some here!
